Young People's Drop In Sessions

An initiative that helps young people from Thirsk and the surrounding district is to be extended.

Hambleton District Council has awarded the ‘Making Time’ project  £10,000 from its Making a Difference Awards to provide an extra five weekly drop in sessions to provide information and advice.

The Clock already runs twice weekly sessions but demand has been so high more are needed – they deliver help on everything from mental health issues, budgeting and fitness to employment and IT.   The new sessions will add sexual health into the mix as well as monthly themes around national initiatives.

“Now in its 15th year The Clock is a key organisation for young people and adults to turn to when they need help,” said Abigail Homer, Chief Executive.

“We are running at capacity for our adult services for the first time and have had to introduce waiting lists.   However with this grant we will be able to get more people to our drop in sessions and meet the needs of even more young people.   And not only will we be able to give them the relevant information we will have the time to make sure they understand how to use it.”
